Frequently Asked Questions
Is there really no subscription?
No subscription. We charge a 3% platform fee only when you process payments through Handiwork, capped at $79/month. If you don't process payments through the platform, there's no cost.
What's included in the $79/month cap?
Once your platform fees reach $79 in a calendar month, you pay no additional platform fees for the rest of that month. All features remain available. The cap is based on your business's local timezone and resets at the start of each calendar month.
What happens to the fee if I refund a customer?
We return our platform fee on the refunded amount, and the refund doesn't count against your monthly cap — so it frees up headroom for the rest of the month. Stripe's processing fee isn't returned; that's set by Stripe, not us.
What about chargebacks?
If a customer disputes a charge with their bank, you're responsible for the disputed amount and the processor's dispute fee, win or lose. We pause the payout on that payment while it's being contested and resume it once the dispute is resolved.
What payment methods can my customers use?
We integrate with Stripe, which supports all major credit cards, debit cards, and ACH bank transfers. Your customers can pay with any method they prefer.
Are all features included?
Yes — every feature is available to every user. There are no tiers, no feature gates, and no upsells. The only cost is the 3% platform fee (capped at $79/month) on payments you process.
Is there a setup fee or contract?
No setup fees, no contracts, and no commitments. You can start using Handiwork immediately and stop anytime.
What about Stripe's processing fees?
Stripe charges their standard processing fee (~2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) in addition to Handiwork's 3% platform fee. Both fees are deducted before your payout, and you can see the full breakdown on every payment.
